Echoes of Romance is a new series of paintings, exploring the relationships between lovers, friends and family members.

"Lack of communication between lovers leads to power-play, manipulation and pain. What interests me is the roles people then assume, their intricate psychological reactions to each other and to their troubled relationships. I’ve chosen a cold monochrome tonality to depict silence and the resulting emotional distance between two contrasting, disintegrating figures." - Paola Minekov

The Dancers Series

Art Review: Great bold strokes uncover composite figures, enveloped in the soft light of the stage. The figure here is just a silhouette, without outlines, and the stroke of colour alone creates the form. The soft gentle tones impart an almost physical sense of light, dispersing and contrasting in the ballet costumes.

The Circus Series

Developed in a style and technique similar to these of the Dancers, The Circus Series are full of movement and charm. Figures of brightly clad clowns and acrobats jump, play and flirt with each other in a painterly feast of colours.

Painted in the typical for Paola vibrant palette, the Cityscapes Series capture the atmosphere of contemporary cities in an imaginative abstract style.
