Paola Minekov’s canvases uncover an unusual and unique interpretation of the art of ballet.
This young and promising artist displays a special interest in the representation of movement, which she depicts through the expressive tonality of her paintings. Great bold strokes uncover composite figures, enveloped in the soft light of the stage. The figure here is just a silhouette, without outlines, and the stroke of colour alone creates the form. The soft gentle tones impart an almost physical sense of light, dispersing and contrasting in the ballet costumes.
Emblematic in this sense is the choice of the perspective, which is always above the figurines - a view from the balcony where the ballet dancers appear the purest and at the same time most vulnerable and exquisite.
